As the HIV Prevention Services Administrator, Ms. Andrea Brooks is responsible for overseeing the Department of HIV Prevention Services (DHPS) at Camillus Health Concern. The department operates Project SafeStreet, which is funded by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Project SafeStreet provides HIV/AIDS prevention and community outreach through general HIV education and services to Camillus clients.

Ms. Brooks joined Camillus House in 2005 and served as Grants Manager for two years before assuming her current position in early 2007. Her experience with HIV/AIDS prevention began at M.O.V.E.R.S., Inc., where she worked for more than three years and served as a project director for the Women’s Inspirational Network and Black Church in Action Program.

Ms. Brooks is a 2008 Fellow of the CDC/Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) Institute for HIV Prevention Leadership. Her work on the front lines, coupled with her grants administration experience, is the ideal blend for developing HIV prevention programming that is responsive to community needs. As one of the only CDC-funded HIV prevention programs specifically targeting the homeless population, she works to ensure that Project SafeStreet continues to serve as a model for other organizations.

A native New Yorker, Ms. Brooks was born in Brooklyn and completed her education in Sociology and Educational Studies at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. She has two sons and one daughter and has been a resident of South Florida since 2000.
