As Director of Housing, Ms. Cuenca-Barberio is responsible for Camillus’ housing program, which provides housing to approximately 800 individuals and families in nine facilities from Opa-Locka to Homestead, and three additional facilities to be built within the next few years.

Before joining Camillus House, Ms. Cuenca-Barberio worked with the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA), serving first as Manager of Policy and Program Development and later as the Director of Administration.  Prior to that she was the Executive Director of the Downtown Miami Community Development Corporation, participating in the development of approximately 200 housing units in Downtown Miami and the management of more than 250 units of affordable housing. 

Ms. Cuenca-Barberio also worked as a consultant to the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust and at the HIV/AIDS Planning and Management Organization, assisting in housing development and program implementation.  After Hurricane Andrew, Ms. Cuenca-Barberio practiced housing and construction law in South Dade for approximately three years.

Ms. Cuenca-Barberio received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Political Science and Philosophy from Duke University, North Carolina.  She also earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, and was admitted to the Florida Bar, and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Florida in 1992. 

Demonstrating her commitment to a better community, Ms. Cuenca-Barberio has served on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Miami Charter School since 2003 and the Board of Directors of Camillus House since 2004.
