CAMILLUS HOUSE WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND CAMILLUS HEALTH CONCERN APPOINTS A NEW CHAIRWOMAN

The Brothers of the Good Shepherd, the founders and sponsors of Camillus House, have appointed Julie Grimes, Eugenio Hernandez, Rod Hildebrant and Alfredo Mesa to serve on Camillus’ Board of Directors. Additionally, the Brothers also have appointed Dr. Kate M. Callahan to serve as chairwoman of Board of Directors of Camillus Health Concern (CHC), a sister organization of Camillus House.
Julie Grimes, owner representative of PH Hotels Inc., oversees the operation of Double Tree Grand Hotel, The Bentley Beach Hotel and The Bentley Hotel. Grimes also directs and administers major financial donations to World Vision Canada and United Way on behalf of Pierre Heafey, including donations to build homes in Honduras and to help create World Care’s foster care program in Romania.
Eugenio Hernandez, a partner in Avila, Rodriguez, Hernandez, Mena & Ferri, LLP, and head of the international immigration practice, working exclusively in the field of immigration and consular law. Among other community activities, Hernandez is a past president and a current board member of the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana in Miami.
Rod Hildebrant is president and sole owner of Hospice Advantage, Inc. His past charitable activities include service as chairman of the Alexis De Tocqueville Society for the United Way, president of the March of Dimes Saginaw Bay area, and supporter of the Boys and Girls Club, and the Rescue Mission of Saginaw, Michigan.
Alfredo Mesa is vice president of Dutko Worldwide. Prior to that post, he was executive director of the Cuban American National Foundation (CANF), where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors and as the organization’s official spokesperson. Mesa also served as director of public affairs for former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas.
Dr. Kate M. Callahan previously worked at CHC as a registered nurse and served on the Camillus House board. Callahan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Miami, a Master’s degree in Health Care Policy from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Barry University.
In addition to her participation in numerous charitable and public boards, Callahan is a principal of the Huntington Consulting Group, which specializes in strategy development, management consulting, staff education and training in the health-care field. Callahan succeeds former CHC Chairwoman Francis Afram-Gyening.
Camillus House has provided humanitarian services to the indigent and homeless populations of Miami-Dade County for 47 years. Established by the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd in 1960, Camillus House has grown steadily over the years from a small overnight shelter into a full service center offering a full “continuum of care” for the poor and homeless.
Camillus Health Concern (CHC) is a separately incorporated, sister organization to Camillus House. CHC has been an established leader in providing primary health care, mental health, and social services to the poor and homeless populations of Miami-Dade County since 1984.
