WACHOVIA FOUNDATION TO PRESENT GRANT TO CAMILLUS HOUSE DURING JUNE 3 CEREMONY

May 29, 2009

MIAMI – The Wachovia Foundation will present Camillus House with a $50,000 grant in support of its mission to end chronic homelessness in Greater Miami during a ceremony to be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the Camillus House Shelter, 726 Northeast Second Avenue.

The Wachovia Foundation has been a supporter of Camillus House since 1996, having donated more than $ 300,000 in the previous years. This latest gift will further the Camillus House mission of providing food, shelter, housing, treatment, and healthcare services to men, women and children who are poor and homeless in our community.

“We are extremely grateful for the Wachovia Foundation’s generosity and continued support to those in need, “said Dr. Paul R. Ahr, President and CEO of Camillus House.

At the ceremony, several senior representatives from Wachovia will present an oversized check to the Camillus House Board Members and staff. The Wachovia representatives will include Kathryn Dinkin, Regional President, Southeast Florida; Jackie Sanchez, Senior Vice President -Business Banking Group; and Sandra Rosell, Vice President, Community Relations, Florida, South Region.

“At Wachovia, we believe in a better tomorrow and we have confidence in Camillus House and its mission. We are honored to know that, through our commitment to Camillus, we are furthering its mission and providing medical care, meals, shelter, and most importantly, hope to those who need it the most,” said Regional President Kathryn Dinkin.

Camillus House has provided humanitarian services to persons who are poor and homeless in Miami-Dade County for nearly 50 years. Established by the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd in 1960, Camillus House has grown steadily over the years from a small overnight shelter into a full-service center for persons who are poor and homeless.
